Assistant Vice President, Derivative Accounting

This position oversees operational accounting and reporting of P&L on derivative transactions for Countrywide Capital Markets (CCM).

Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Managing and supervising daily transaction P&L.
- Overseeing derivative P&L and notional position and NPV balance reconciliations.
- Managing accounting aspects of derivative accounting process and other duties.
- Developing and implementing daily account and bank reconciliation processes.
- Acting as accounting system owner/administrator for system of record for derivatives, ensuring the proper configuration/accounting mapping in accordance with GAAP.
- Documenting policies/procedures for CCM derivative accounting and staff members.
- Training and developing staff members and assigning responsibility.
- Reconciling, identifying and resolving outstanding issues.
- Participating substantially in Countrywide Financial Corporation initiatives and projects related to derivative accounting, including working closely with traders/salespeople, middle office, back office, and finance.
- Undertaking special projects as requested.

A successful candidate will have:
- 4-year college degree in Accounting or equivalent.
- 5+ years experience in accounting and 4+ years in the securities industry.
- Internal controls background with ability to research and document policies/procedures.
- CPA or similar skill level.
- Acute orientation to detail and well-versed in accounting processes and procedures.
- Strong system skills.
- Excellent communication, customer service, time management and motivational skills.
- Ability to interface with securities traders, transaction management and senior management.
- Computer literacy including knowledge of Excel and Word.

The ideal candidate may also possess:
- 2-4 years in a supervisory role.
- Financial background.
- Knowledge of securities industry practices and procedures.
