Account Adjuster

Input payment information on patient accounts involving account research and analysis, contracts billing, refunds, adjustments, and transfer of monies by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. ľ Post payments for each site received that day. ľ Research patient's accounts by reviewing; carrier codes, secondary billing information, denials, deductible, transfer of funds, and duplicate payments. ľ Edit Medicare transfer tape for appropriate information for the electronic remittance advice. ľ Prepare and balance deposits daily. ľ Copy and distribute denied or underpaid Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to appropriate unit. ľ Balance batches. ľ Request refunds. ľ Bill secondary insurance, patient deductibles and short pay accounts. ľ Complete cash logs. ľ Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE ľ High school diploma or general education degree (GED). ľ 1 year computerized medical billing cash posting experience required, but related medical billing experience may be considered. ľ Detailed knowledge of insurance payments: Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMO, PPO, and Capitation, working knowledge of CPT-Coding. ľ Excellent computer, including keyboard, skills ľ Strong 10-key by touch skills
