Performance Responsibilities Under the general supervision the Registration Supervisor, to perform complex accounting work that involves college-wide accounts or includes auxiliary or ancillary programs; perform other related job duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
a. Prepare purchase orders covering a wide range of College or District-level programs; match invoices with purchase orders; assure proper authorizations; process for payment in accordance with District policy; enter invoice data to the computer; verify budgets and fund balances; print checks and edit for accuracy.
b. Reconcile and verify financial aid checks to check report; disburse to students in accordance with District and College procedures.
c. Verify revenues from various auxiliary and ancillary programs; prepare bank deposits.
d. Input daily receipts to the computer; reconcile accounts; produce accounts receivable statements; resolve collection problems on overdue accounts.
e. Provide data to analyze costs for campus-based programs as requested.
f. Provide a range of fiscal and program services at a counter or window including distributing checks, taking deposits, receiving payments for fees and resolving account balance issues for faculty, staff and students.
g. Enter payroll distribution data for assigned auxiliary or ancillary accounts; reconcile payroll payments and prepare general ledger entries regarding benefit and payroll reimbursements.
h. Collect sales tax data and assist with preparation of returns.
i. Utilize computerized systems to monitor, analyze, control and report on data involving such matters as accounting, financial aid and other information; upload and download to and from other systems.
j. Perform a variety of accounting steps to assure that financial aid or other payments are accounted for legally and accurately in accordance with government specifications and District policy.
k. Provide work direction and guidance to other staff and student workers participating in assigned programs.
l. Prepare various reports for assigned accounts or functions; prepare adjusting entries.
m. Balance and reconcile registers, accounts and reports.
n. Prepare budget and expenditure transfer for assigned accounts.
o. Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of:
1. Principles of accounting and bookkeeping.
2. District accounting and related procedures.
3. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment, including use of computers for word processing, spreadsheet and other financial software, and data base applications.
4. Record keeping techniques.
5. Technical aspects of field of specialty.
6. Telephone techniques and etiquette.

Ability to:
7. Perform a variety of arithmetic calculations.
8. Type at an acceptable rate of speed.
9. Work cooperatively with others.
10. Understand and follow oral and written directions.
11. Meet schedules and time lines.
12. Maintain records and prepare reports.
13. Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Education and Experience:
14. Completion of college-level course works in a related field.
15. At least three years accounting experience.
16. Or, any combination of education and experience that would provide the required equivalent qualifications.
Desired Qualifications
Conditions of Employment This is a regular full-time, 12-month per year position. The normal work hours will be 8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday. The effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor.

Based on the 2005/2006 Salary Schedule
Pay Philosophy Starting salaries for support staff positions begin at Step-1 of the salary range. The first salary advancement is at the end of the 6-month probationary period. Further advancements are on an annual basis.

Starting salaries for management and supervisory positions are based on a combination of education, qualifications and experience. Initial placement is within the starting salary range. Further advancements are based on initial salary placement.

Starting salaries for academic positions are based on a combination of education and experience. Initial placement is within the starting salary range. Further advancements are based on longevity and professional development. An additional annual stipend is offered for possession of an earned doctorate from an accredited institution.

Work Schedule 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday
Benefits: The District provides a comprehensive benefit program effective the first calendar day of the month following the first day of regular employment. Dental and vision care plans for employees and dependents, and life insurance and income protection plans for employees are fully paid by the District. A variety of medical plans covering employees and their dependents are available, with the District paying the major portion of the cost. Other liberal benefits include, on an annual basis: vacation, 12 days the first year; sick leave, 12 days; holidays, averaging 12 days. Employees participate in both the Public Employees Retirement System and Social Security.
