Accountant / Accounting Clerk

Under minimum supervision from the controller, the accounting clerk performs accounts payable, accounts receivable, and accounting functions according to smart accounting procedures. With some input from the General Manager and the Controller, the clerk help design, implement and maintain finance and accounting procedures and records. The clerk would have access to all financial statements, including profit and loss statements, payroll information and all other supporting data and have contacts with vendor accounts receivable and customer accounts payable departments. While this currently isn?t defined as a supervisory role, we expect that it will soon grow into one.ResponsibilitiesDeals effectively with customers, employees and upper management on a daily basisMaintain accounts payable and accounts receivable recordsAdminister general ledger postings to ensure proper allocations and accounting recordsPrepare check runs in a timely fashionMaintains financial security by following internal controlsMaintain and ensure accuracy and consistency of accounting recordsAssist in internal and external financial auditsContributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededComplies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actionsMaintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidentialEducation and ExperienceAn Accounting or Finance DegreeExperience working with AP, AR, General Ledger, Month End, Payroll.Excellent organizational skills and an attention to detialGood knowledge of Excel and computerized systemsGreat Plains experience a definite plus
