Job Summary:
Under general supervision, responsible for assisting in the day-to-day maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and in preparing basic financial reports. Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records. Coordinates accounting matters with other departments or locations. This is an entry-level professional position. Department specific functions are described below.

Job Functions:
1. Reconciles accounts receivables for stores.
2. Communicates with store managers, regional managers and group VPs on outstanding open items.
3. Provides application support to stores (ROA/JDA).
4. Analyzes information provided from stores.
5. Prepares monthly journal entries.
6. Processes special check requests from stores.
7. Provides assistance to internal auditors.
8. Interacts with other departments to research open items.
9. Fulfills bookstore check orders.
10. Participates in special projects as needed.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships:
* Reports to Accounts Receivable Supervisor
* Not responsible for supervising the work of others

Requirements:
1. BA/BS in Accounting or equivalent
2. Zero to two years previous accounting experience preferred
3. Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices
4. Customer service skills
5. Analytical and problem resolution skills
6. Proficient use of spreadsheets and databases
7. Intermediate computer skills with general office software and accounting systems
8. Normal office environment requiring ability to organize and prioritize workload, communicate effectively, sit for extended periods of time, use standard office equipment, and review and proof documents
