Accountant I, Fixed Assets

Job Summary:
Under minimal supervision, responsible for moderately complex activities associated with maintaining general ledger accounts and for developing financial statements, reports, and analyses. Performs intermediate level accounting work requiring the use of professional concepts. May assign tasks to accounting clerks or provide assistance in resolving issues. This is an entry-level professional position. Department specific functions are described below.

Job Functions:

1.Maintains integrity of capital asset ledger accounts and sub-ledger detail.

2.Supports operating units capital asset acquisition/divestiture processes.

3.Engages in continuous improvement of capital asset accounting processes.

4.Performs capital asset account reconciliation and analysis.

5.Prepares and posts journal entries.

6.Produces fixed asset lists for store managers, regional managers, Store Planning, and Marketing.

7.Develops and implements reporting and analysis tools.

8.Prepares for and completes month-end and year end close.

9.Documents procedures for store audits and prepaid audit.

10.Maintains strong working relationships with Operations and Information Technology.

11.Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

1. BA/BS in Accounting or equivalent

2. 0 to 2 years previous accounting experience preferred

3. Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices

4. Customer service skills

5. Analytical and problem resolution skills

6. Proficient use of spreadsheets and databases

7. Intermediate computer skills with general office software and accounting systems

8. Normal office environment requiring ability to organize and prioritize workload, communicate effectively, sit for extended periods of time, use standard office equipment, and review and proof documents

Reporting Relationships:
1. Reports to Supervisor, Fixed Assets & Tax Compliance
2. Not responsible for supervising the work of others
