HM Insurance Group, headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, offers a connected product portfolio of products and services that help to provide health risk solutions for clients and presently has an opening for a Accountant III.  The HM Insurance Group product portfolio includes Stop Loss, including medical reinsurance programs such as Provider Excess and HMO Reinsurance, as well as Limited Benefit Medical and Worksite.

 

JOB SUMMARY

-  This position is primarily responsible for the completion and reporting of the Group Product Reserves and Reinsurance for Direct and Assumed business received from internal sources and outside partnerships.

-  This includes preparing moderately complexed journal entries, reconciling the general ledger accounts and providing a detail listing of reserves on a group by group basis.

-  The individual will be responsible for completion of risk assessment prior to entering reinsurance agreements.  The position must understand the inter-relationship among the reserves and reserve credits and be able to correctly report the financial results of this relationship.

-  This position will be responsible for verifying that the financial reports reflects the terms of the various reinsurance agreements upon completion of the entering of the journal entries into the general ledger.

-  The position is responsible for the overall gathering, coordination, and distribution of the data to/from Reinsurance Brokers and HM?s internal departments.

-  This position may also be responsible for completion of special projects, including profitability analyses, as requested from Management.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

-  A Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting, in addition:

-  Finance or Business Admin or 4 years experience in General Accounting or Financial Reporting.

-  5-7 Years of Experience in General Accounting or Financial Reporting

-  Demonstrated strong analytical and statistical skills

-  Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-  Demonstrated ability to understand reserving, reinsurance and financial statement concepts

-  Proficiency in Excel
