Accounting Manager (Joint Venture)

Job Description
Plans and directs accounting activities within the Accounting department by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate staff.


Prepares financial information in accordance with regulatory or other requirements, as required to meet internal and/or external reporting needs. 
Responsible for maintaining the quality and efficiency of the financial reporting process including oversight of the account reconciliation process.
Monitors compliance with accounting policies. 
Manages special project teams including various ad hoc assignments, i.e., preparing and tracking project plans; providing guidance to project teams; and communicating project status and results to Company management.
Reviews and provides training/comments on staff's work. 
Reviews reconciliation for more subjective and/or complex accounting activity.
Researches and responds to non-routine or subjective customer issues requiring extensive judgment.
Interprets and analyzes financial results for reasonableness.
Interprets and prepares written analysis of financial information.
Communicates financial results to senior management.
Identifies and implements opportunities for process improvement.
Researches and documents accounting issues associated with new authoritative accounting guidance.
Oversees closing processes to ensure reporting deadlines are achieved.
Oversees preparation and recording of journal entries associated with more complex and subjective accounting activity.
Develops and documents standard operating procedures.
Analyzes accounting processes for control deficiencies and identifies opportunities for control improvements.
Develops and modifies reports as needed to meet changing business needs.
Coordinates external audits including reviews or related schedules. 

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from a four-year college or university. 
Five to seven years accounting experience and/or training 
Previous management experience 
Basic MS word skills
Intermediate Excel skills
Basic PeopleSoft or similar ERP software skills
