Accounting Manager, Specialty Revenue (Job #638)

Job Description: Duties & Responsibilities: Establishes and maintains revenue and receivable records associated with wholesale relationships, accounts receivable from related parties and strategic partners, including new product lines for on-line music sales and subscriptions.

Responsible for the accuracy of month-end reporting of wholesale, related party, strategic and specialty billing and revenue, including ensuring that Accounts Receivable are fairly stated and that estimates are reviewed and updated as needed.

Manages the inter- and intra system reconciliation of billing journal data for new and strategic revenue streams, including reconciling subsidiary billing journals and basic records to the General Ledger.

Coordinates with Manager of Requirements and User Testing to ensure system requirements are documented and incorporated into planned software releases. Assists in the development and planning of appropriate user acceptance testing.

Develops Revenue Accounting policies for revenue recognition for new and strategic revenue sources in accordance with GAAP. Drafts accounting rulings/interpretations for revenue recognition associated with new programs and services. Researches and summarizes applicable accounting pronouncements, identifying accounting alternatives, analysis and recommendations for accounting treatment and disclosure requirements.

Designs and maintains appropriate monthly, quarterly and annual revenue results and key metrics, including comparisons of actual results to budget and forecast and explanation of differences and evaluation of trends in programs.

Support internal and external audits in the areas of revenue accounting and reporting, including preparation of PBC (Prepared by client) schedules requested by auditors.

Manages senior accountants

Education and/or Experience:


BA/BS in Accounting/Finance or equivalent required: MBA or MA preferred

CPA certification preferred

7 to 10 years experience in corporate accounting, including 2 to 3 years managing accounting functions

Understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), familiarity with large complex financial and management information systems, revenue accounting, and key financial metrics

Knowledge of Siebel and/or Portal Infranet
