Accounting Manager Tax/Finance

Direct Hire Accountant Position in Minneapolis!!  We are open to considering candidates with tax experience AND/OR international accounting experience.

 

PURPOSE

 

The purpose of this position is to manage the following functions for the Firm?s international offices:  Tax and Accounting Compliance, Inter-company Analysis and Financial Reporting, Budgeting and Forecasting, Financial Systems Infrastructure Support and Resource Management. 

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

I.  International Tax and Accounting Compliance

 

A. Develop and implement the processes necessary for international tax reporting compliance, and evaluate tax structures to minimize partners? overall tax liabilities.

 

B. Manage relationships with accounting firms that provide tax compliance and reporting services and coordinate required financial audit work for reporting.

 

C. Manage processes for tax compliance and reporting to ensure that all deadlines are met.

 

D. Analyze complex tax and financial issues and prepare recommendations for policies, procedures, control and action.

 

E.  Maintain and communicate tax and accounting policies and procedures.

 

F.  Act as primary liaison with international offices for tax and accounting issues.

 

II.  Inter-company Analysis and Financial Reporting for International Offices

 

A. Develop and implement the strategies and the supporting processes to manage inter-company transaction processing for revenue and expenses in order to comply with local tax reporting requirements and to accurately reflect financial performance.

 

B. Develop periodic and ad-hoc financial reporting and results analysis.

 

III.  Financial Systems Infrastructure Support for International Offices

 

A. Lead accounting systems conversion projects and provide recommendations for enhancements to the information systems used in international offices.

 

B. Manage the design, implementation and maintenance of the firm?s financial systems infrastructure, both electronic and paper, used for the development and distribution of financial information to the firm?s management and partners.

 

C. Manage process for evaluation and implementation of new technologies for information systems and processes as they arise (e.g., imaging and electronic workflow processes).

 

IV.  Resource Management

 

A. Analyze and develop an effective and efficient staffing model for areas of responsibility within the Accounting Department.  Provide recommendations for staffing used in each international location.

 

B. Plan and schedule the workflow within the responsible areas.

 

C. Manage various aspects of staffing to include hiring, training, conducting performance evaluations, coaching, and counseling Accounting Department staff regarding their responsibilities.

 

D. Manage the use of contract staff and consultants when required for the implementation of specific projects.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

A. Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA or equivalent professional certification  preferred.

 

B. Demonstrated experience working with international tax and accounting issues.

 

C. Demonstrated quantitative analysis skills.

 

D. Minimum of 5 years of combined experience to include international tax, financial analysis, financial management and budgeting and planning experience.  One year of supervisory and management experience within a multi­functional financial area and experience in a large professional service organization are preferred.

 

E.  Ability to work well under defined deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

 

F.  Strong communication skills providing the ability to communicate well with clients, attorneys and all levels of staff.

 

G. Ability to work effectively within a large management team.

 

H. Proven ability to manage projects, provide customer service, manage change while promoting its positive qualities to all personnel.

 

I.  Interpersonal skills necessary to supervise staff, facilitate individual and group planning meetings and train staff on systems operations with courtesy and tact.

 

J. Thorough understanding of management information systems, business principals and the use of current standard PC software tools.  Experience with Microsoft suite required.

 

K. Ability to recognize and solve business problems by applying appropriate use of logic to quickly identify trends.

 

L.  Ability to analyze workflow and systems requirements in order to formulate procedures and policies.

 

M.  High level of aptitude for the organization and prioritization of a large number of different tasks and responsibilities requiring high levels of mental effort while performing many problem solving tasks and other essential duties.

 

N. Ability to travel internationally on an as needed basis.
