Job Description:
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
*Review bank reconciliations and ensure reconciling items are clearly explained and documented
*Supervise a staff of accountants and assist reconcilers with identifying and developing proposed resolution for all systemic issues that cause reconciling items
*Serve as coordination point for account reconciliation review project which entails a quarterly review of all Finance reconciliations and monthly reporting to the Corporate Controller
*Develop and review corporate accounting policies and procedures
*Perform technical consultative services and coordinate with other areas of the company on key financial and accounting matters
*Ensure adherence to financial controls and accounting policies/procedures
*Review the periodic reconciliation of assigned accounts and prepare summary report to the area responsible for the reconciliation of accounts
*Lead projects in the design, development and implementation of key activities to support the technical and reporting needs of Corporate Controller
*Maintain strong communication and effective working relationships with all business sectors in order to understand their financial reporting and analysis needs and to gain their support for the corporate accounting processes, policies and procedures


Job Experience:
Business Specific Criteria (preferred skills):
*Big 4 accounting experience
*CPA certification or CPA candidate
*Masters in Accounting or MBA
*Experience managing accounting professionals
*Basic understanding of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
*Experience accounting for pensions and other employee benefit matters
*Experience working in the healthcare or insurance industry
*Proficiency with PeopleSoft systems, Access and Visio
*Working knowledge of HOI and BCBSF financial statements
*Working knowledge of BCBSF systems
*Testing of skills on Microsoft Excel may also be requested (at the intermediate level)
