Accounting Supervisor

 

Responsibilities:

 

?  Supervise the Tax Compliance & Benefit Payrolls section, including the daily operations of the section to ensure accurate and timely preparation and payment of Pension, Workers Compensation and Long Term Disability payrolls. Organize section to achieve highest productivity and provide clear direction to employees. Schedule and delegate work to ensure efficient operations. Train new analysts and other employees. Maintain Pensioner helpline coverage to ensure quality information and communications. Establish training and development plans for employees, including technical and management skills. Provide performance feedback to employees and prepare employee evaluations for management employees.

 

?  Oversee the accurate and timely preparation and filing of all Payroll related tax returns and other mandated tax reporting information. Ensure all tax filings and payments are accurate and on time. Ensure any changes to regulations are identified and implemented in accordance with specifications. Maintain documentation to support any changes to reporting, filing or other specifications to ensure appropriate adherence to regulations.

 

?  Actively participate and work closely with the SAP HR-Payroll project team to implement the SAP Payroll module. Re-engineer business processes and implement new operating procedures as needed. Become a SAP subject matter expert in areas of responsibility and train staff on new business procedures. Meet all project deadlines and deliverables.

 

?  Develop and maintain appropriate internal controls for section, including the review and analysis of various reports to prevent payroll errors. Ensure integrity of payroll data and work with staff to avoid errors and manual corrections. Monitor to ensure compliance. Complete all required SOX testing and reporting timely and accurately. Implement any required remediation within agreed to timeframe. Modify existing key controls and tests as needed to accommodate new SAP Payroll module and related new business procedures.

 

?  Effectively manage the ADP Commuter Transit Program. Provide high a level of client service to employees. Resolve issues and communicate timely and effectively. Elevate issues appropriately.

 

Essential/Required:

?  2 to 3 years experience in preparation and filing of all Payroll related tax returns and other mandated tax reporting information

?  Leadership, judgment, decision making ability

?  Excellent oral and written communications skills

?  General knowledge of payroll policies and accounting principals

?  Process improvement experience

?  Microsoft Word and Excel

?  BA/BS in Management, Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or related degree

 

Desired:

?  3 to 5 years experience in preparation and filing of all Payroll related tax returns

?  Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)

?  Supervisory experience. Planning, staffing, directing

?  SAP Payroll experience

?  Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access or other database software; SQL

?  Knowledge of HR policies and procedures as they relate to Payroll

?  Supervision of union employees
