Accounting & Auditing Quality Control Professional

BKD, LLP?s firmwide accounting and auditing quality control department seeks an experienced accountant to fill a new position for this growing Top 10 CPA firm.  With assurance services comprising 45% of the firm?s $283 million practice, we welcome applications from experienced accountants with an interest in and aptitude for quality control vs. client service.

 

This salaried position will provide valuable support to the QC department, which in turn supports approximately 500 BKD auditors in 27 locations in 11 states.  We audit both public and private companies and have an outstanding reputation for audit quality.  All our peer reviews have been unqualified.  BKD was one of the first CPA firms in the country to establish firmwide QC protocols back in the 1970s. 

 

The officer will report to the director of accounting and auditing services in BKD?s headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, which consists of more than 80 personnel.

 

Potential Responsibilities

 Annually update audit tools for new pronouncementsMaintain internal QC formsMaintain and develop content for BKD?s proprietary audit program generatorCoordinate updates to internal libraryHelp coordinate interoffice inspectionsPerform CPE inspectionsManage annual independence circularizationMaintain licenses for FASB/AICPA research materials, GoSystem, 10K Wizard, etc.Coordinate issuance of internal A&A communicationsMonitor relevant web sites for developing issues and guidance and update QC group on statusMaintain library and topical filesAssist with information gathering for external peer review and PCAOB inspectionAssist professional practices partner and director of tax services on special projectsAssist with other potential research, teaching and guidance development

 

 

Requirements

 College degree in accounting preferredPublic accounting firm experience in audit preferredWork in administrative office in Springfield, MissouriLittle or no travel and little or no client interactionFull-time or part-time, depending on scope of responsibilities
