Accounts Payable: 3-6 months: Temp Positions

 

Job Title:      Accounts Payable Analyst

Job Summary:  The Analyst position within A/P is to ensure the consistent application of both preventive and detective internal controls to major AP functions. The role is critical to ensuring overall AP compliance to external regulatory requirements, company policies, departmental procedures, and the safeguarding of company assets, accurate payment and posting to general ledger.  This is accomplished through proper invoice matching and research as well as approval verification on purchase orders. 

 

.Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities: 

 

? Accountable for overall company objectives and priorities as they relate to AP for both internal and

  external customers. Is the primary back-up to the A/P Manager

? Generation of management reports of departmental metrics.

? Development of ad hoc reporting as necessary.

? Identification of operating deficiencies in daily Accounts Payable procedures through the use of

  measurements and statistics.

? Participation in the development of applicable Accounts Payable policies and procedures.

? Implementation and monitoring of Accounts Payable policy, procedures, and standards relative to 

  system operation, data analysis, reporting, and GL interface.

? Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the AP system, Access, Excel and other relevant technology tools.

 

? Ensure that daily, weekly, and period end system reports and database updates are accurate and run in a timely manner.

 

? Balancing of AP subsystem to GL.

 

? Assist in the technical training and development of AP team members as requested.

 

? Participate in process improvement projects, performing assigned functions in an accurate and timely manner.

 

? Develop and maintain a good understanding of internal control within the AP department, system, and processes.

 

? Develop and maintain reporting of major vendors focusing on relevant metrics to ensure accurate analysis of payment trends and AP aging.

? Manage the vendor database adhering to company policy and governmental reporting requirements.

? Manage the check generation procedure according to policy.

 

? Provide support for extensive data analysis or reporting.

Educational Qualifications:

? 4 year degree in Accounting preferred.

 

Experience Qualifications:
Three to five years in Accounts Payable.Experience with SAP.
