Accounts Payable/Payroll

Job Summary:

Performs all functions related to accounts payable and payroll with the exception of reconciling the aging to the general ledger.? Reports directly to the Controller.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Performs the following duties jointly with the Accounts Payable/Payroll II position: (a) Generates commissions payable register and analyzes to determine proper amounts due the company's distributors and sales representatives; (b) Analyzes the Regional Sales Manager sales report monthly and enters data in the commission calculation spreadsheet to determine commission due; (c) Enters biweekly payroll data required to generate employee paychecks; (d) Initiates transmission of payroll data to the company and prepares manual payroll checks in certain cases; (e) Controls the payroll deductions required for insurance, employee garnishments, child support payments, and other miscellaneous deductions; (f) Maintains employee payroll master file.

2) Processes and maintains importation files for Busch, Inc. and Busch Manufacturing Company.

3) Monitors daily bank transactions and updates accounting system to reflect cleared checks and outgoing wires.

4) Prepares monthly general ledger allocation of freight expenses.

5) Determines general ledger classification of miscellaneous expenses on employee expense reports.

6) Writes, issues and posts manually generated checks.

7) Prepares the monthly 401(k) employee withholding report and forwards to the employee benefits administrator.

8) Analyzes company credit card statements for credits of expenses already paid to employees but not reported on their weekly expense reports.

9) Files purchase orders, purchase invoices (receiving documentation), open and paid vendor invoices.

10) Monitors petty cash payments and reconciles petty cash periodically.

11) Enters and generates payment documentation for foreign invoices.

12) Processes and prepares checks for all company bills.

13) Serves as back-up for Accounts Payable/Payroll II position in his/her absence.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1) Computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.

2) Ability to type at least 40 wpm.

3) Ability to operate an adding machine using the touch method.

4) Ability to efficiently perform data entry tasks.

5) Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing.

Qualifications, Training and Experience:

1) High school diploma or equivalent.

2) One to two years experience in the control and processing of payroll and/or accounts payable.

3) An equivalent combination of education and experience.
