Accounts Receivable Manager, Grant and Contract Financial

Position Title: Accounts Receivable Manager, Grant and Contract Financial Administration (GCFA) Office

 

Position Description: The GCFA Office provides post-award financial administration support to Yale departments. The Office is comprised of three sections, including an Accounts Receivable team responsible for invoicing sponsors, receiving payments, resolving issues and applying funds to sponsored accounts.

 

Reporting to the Director, Sponsored Programs Finance, the Accounts Receivable Manager will be responsible for all activities in the accounts receivable function within the GCFA Accounts Receivable unit. This includes ensuring the accurate and timely billing and collection of sponsored grant and contract funds, as well as reviewing methods, procedures, applications and systems of the accounts receivable function. The successful candidate will collaborate on, promote staff participation in, and execute and manage projects to improve process efficiency and effectiveness, including documenting procedures, delivering cross-training, experimenting with new methodologies, identifying impediments and inventing solutions to them. Staff development ? via encouraging participation in training, conferences and/or career path programs and by implementing employee performance and developments plans for each staff member - is also a critical part of the role. Additional responsibilities include managing regular reconciliations; preparing regular, detailed accounts receivable management reports; ensuring timely production of monthly grant and contract invoices; and establishing standard operating procedures for efficient billing, cash receipts, collection activities, record keeping, and management of receivable write-offs in accordance with University policies.

Qualifications: A Bachelor?s degree in accounting, finance or business administration, plus 4 years of related accounting experience (or equivalent combination of education/experience) are required. CPA or MBA desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with accounts receivable experience with sponsored projects in a University or non-profit environment; knowledge of Oracle systems or other integrated business systems; prior experience with grant and contract accounting; accounts receivable experience; project management experience; and/or knowledge of grants and contracts in a research organization.  Must be an experienced user of Excel and Word and possess familiarity with Hyperion/Brio or other database query and reporting tool. Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills essential.
