Assistant Controller/Business Analyst

 

Founded in 1989, Pembrooke Occupational Health Inc. is a national provider of employment screening and compliance solutions. The company provides federally-regulated and non-regulated substance abuse testing management services as well as Background Checks, Motor Vehicle Records checks to a broad range of industries and government.  Pembrooke currently has approximately 100 employees and is located in the West End of Richmond, Virginia.

 

Pembrooke is looking for an Assistant Controller to work within the Finance Department.

 

Responsibilities:Assist in and be an integral part of Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) implementation ? modules included are General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Electronic Bank Reconciliation, EFT for Receivables and Payables, Mekorma MICR for Payables and Accountable Solutions ? Forms Printer.Identify problems, operational inefficiencies, internal control weaknesses and conflicting business practices in such areas as:

Financial Reporting

Revenue recognition

Payables processing

PurchasingAssume a business analyst role and collect and analyze business requirements for multifunctional projects to provide the best solution for business needs. Suggest alternative solutions analyzing return on investment.Develop business relationships and integrate activities with colleagues in other departments, including IT to ensure successful implementation and support of projects.Perform financial analysis.Assist in monthly preparation of financial statements.Maintain running analyses of selected accounts.Constantly refine financial and managerial reporting processPrepare tax-basis trial balance for preparation of annual 1120-S.



Requirements:Bachelor degree in Accounting or related discipline.Minimum of 4+ years business experience, preferably including accounting system related workKnowledge of Microsoft Dynamics products, specifically Great Plains, helpful but not required.Strong communication and interpersonal skills in order to understand and convey technical information as well as business information.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving abilities.Knowledge of project management concepts and system development methodologies.Ability/willingness to learn.Knowledge of financial, accounting and database concepts, CPA a plus.Experience in public and private accounting a plus.
