Assistant Manager, Mutual Fund Accounting

We are seeking an Assistant Manager, Mutual Fund Accounting in Lake Mary FL who will be responsible for overall supervision of at least 3 to 5 Accountants and their related funds.

 

RESPNSIBILITIES:

?  Provide on the job training and development of staff.

?  Mentor, coach and evaluate staff.

?  Delegate responsibilities to staff.

?  Manage and review daily and periodic accounting responsibilities of the group.

?  Ensures daily policies, procedures, practices and controls are followed by the staff.

?  Maintain effective lines of communication with clients, auditors, internal and external departments, custodian, transfer agent, fund administrator and investment advisor.

?  Address staffing requirements.

?  Conduct periodic staff meetings.

?  Prioritize problem/issues and manage daily work load (time management).

?  Maintain and enhance staff morale.

?  Proficiency in knowledge/performance of all daily and periodic responsibilities of staff accountants.

?  Ensure that pre-valuation and valuation of net assets (pricing) controls and procedures for assigned funds are followed by staff.

?  Ensures fund accountants meet reporting deadlines.

?  Verify that all NAV related data has been transmitted/faxed to the appropriate parties, such as:  price sheets, transfer agent documentation; dividend related data; etc.

?  Provide primary review of daily and monthly proof packages, including asset reconciliation, cash reconciliation, past due income, failed trades, aged receivables/payables, and subsidiary schedules.

?  Assure that reconciling items are researched and cleared promptly.

?  Research complex settlement and income collection issues.

?  Participate in department-wide projects to enhance workflow.

?  Assist in the preparation and review of semi-annual and annual audit reporting.

?  Assist in the preparation and review of monthly management report, if applicable.

?  Proficiency with relevant computer systems.

?  Interview prospective candidates.

?  Monitor overtime and vacation time.

?  Evaluate employee performance.

?  Teach and convey the overall concept of mutual fund accounting.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

?  Comprehensive knowledge of investment accounting and mutual fund industry.

?  Computer knowledge - Excel/Word/Bloomberg/Reuters

?  Excellent knowledge of mutual fund accounting daily operations.

?  Strong organizational and time management skills.

?  Excellent analytical skills.

?  Demonstrates leadership skills.

?  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

?  Must be proactive, accountable and responsible.

?  Excellent knowledge of processing complex securities transactions.

?  Excellent knowledge of income and capital gains distribution for single or multi-class funds.

?  A minimum two years of Mutual Fund Accounting experience.

?  Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance required.
