Associate Staff Accountant

Are you a recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting?

 

As a member of the Report Control group within the Fund Accounting Department, this position will focus energy on producing quality financial statements and SEC reporting for each mutual fund.  Producing the financial statements involves not only ensuring their accounting accuracy, but also ensuring that they are free of grammar, spelling and punctuation errors.  This position has quarterly deadlines and the individual selected is expected to manage their time appropriately to meet them. Responsibilities

 

Daily:  Acts as liaison to outside publications for Fund information (answering mail and phone inquiries).

 

Monthly: 1. Prepares and maintains worksheets of monthly activity, ensuring their quality and accuracy:

? High/Low Prices

? Total net assets and NAVs to various services

? Sales and Fund Statistics

? Portfolio Turnover

? Shares Sold/Shares Redeemed

? Commissions

? Dividend Book Update

? Dividend factors for daily dividend funds

 

  2. Answers monthly questionnaires for outside sources.  (These include ICI monthly, Bond Fund Survey, Moody's, Standard and Poor's, etc.)

 

Quarterly:

1.  Prepares audit schedules.

2.  Update stock list.

3.  Updates list of securities held by Funds.

4.  Prepares financial statements and portfolios for some funds under audit.

5.  Assists in preparing, assembling and printing of reports and prospectuses.

6.  Assists in the filing of SEC required reports.

7.  Answers quarterly questionnaires for outside sources.  (These include ICI quarterly, Lipper, Media General Financial Services, Standard & Poor's, Mutual Fund Sourcebook, Morningstar, CDA and Vicker's.)

 

Annually:

1.  Prepares special year-end questionnaires for outside publications.  (These include Lipper, Commerce Clearing House, Mutual Fund Sourcebook.)

2.  Assists in the Proxy process.

 

"As Needed"

1.  Transfers SEC filings from PC network to CD.

2.  Updates procedures.

3.  Record maintenance.

4.  Updates PC worksheets.

 

Education and Experience Needed:

 

Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting

Strong English language skills, including proofreading abilities

PC skills with spreadsheets (preferably Excel) and word processing (preferably MS Word)

Exceptional accuracy with details

Regular and predictable attendance
