Business/ Accounting Manager

The Valspar Corporation, founded in 1806, is a $2.7 billion global paint and coatings manufacturer employing 7,000 people worldwide. The Architectural Business Group manufactures brand and private label interior and exterior paints, stains and varnishes for the do-it-yourself home center and hardware wholesaler markets.  We are currently seeking a professional Business/Accounting Manager based out of the Charlotte, NC area.

Our Business/Accounting Manager will provide financial leadership in the areas of strategic planning, annual target setting, and monthly forecasting for a Sales team that supports a "Big Box" customer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Report and analyze financial information; full P&L management Provide financial support for sales & merchandising departments Analyze new business opportunities and develop pro forma financial information Participate in line review process including development of pro forma financials Manage point of sale system administration Customer program accounting and administration (volume rebates, consumer rebates, advertising, defectives, opening stock order discounts, etc) Pricing and billing management and administration Accounts receivable analysis and issue resolution Provide analysis to support business objectives in the following areas: sales, profitability, modified return on assets Special projects as required by the Architectural business team

QUALIFICATIONS:BA Degree in Accounting or Business Management required 4-6 years experience in general accounting, cost accounting Current/prior experience providing financial support to a Sales group that calls on a "Big Box" customer is preferred Solid understanding of accounting principles and analytical skills Ability to process and analyze large volumes of data and manage multiple tasks Ability to understand broader business objectives and support these objectives through analytical support Strong initiative and creativity in working with financial models Effective problem solving and communication skills Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization Must be able to work well independently and with others in a team environment Proficient with Microsoft Excel, working knowledge of ERP applications and database management
