Business Unit/Plant Controller

Eckart America, a subsidiary of Altana Chemie, is looking for a Controller for its Louisville, Kentucky facility.  Eckart America is a leading supplier of Effect Pigments, serving the Coatings and Graphic Arts industries. The Controller is an integral part of the plant management team who provides detailed analysis and actionable feedback to support decision making for both the Louisville plant and the Coatings business unit.  The ideal candidate for this position will have 5 plus years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, previous cost accounting experience, and a strong desire to succeed.

 

Major Job Functions:Manage, coordinate, and perform the financial and controlling functions required to optimize plant profitability and protect plant assets.Direct the monthly closing process; ensure accurate preparation of plant and business line financial statements.Prepare comprehensive set of plant-specific Key Performance Indicators.  Investigate and report on drivers.Prepare monthly variance analyses to explain production, utilization, purchase price, inventory adjustments, etc.Develop accurate detailed standard costs; including validation of recipes, labor and overhead rates, and pricing.Lead annual site/business unit planning process.Partner with functional leaders to improve internal processes and reporting mechanisms.Manage capital budget and fixed assets.Prepare required corporate reports in accordance with company schedule.Reconcile all relevant balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.Maintain/implement appropriate internal controls; identify areas of weakness, comply with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.Direct the work of the cost accountant.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

1. Bachelor?s degree in accounting or finance; CPA/MBA preferred.

2. Five+ years relevant accounting experience; 3+ in a manufacturing environment.

3. Significant financial analysis experience and the ability to shape complex data into meaningful

operational analysis.

4. Experience working with and advising senior management on financial and operational matters.

5. Proven track record of driving results through cross-functional teams.

6. Advanced Excel and ERP skills, SAP strongly preferred.
