Performs work under the general supervision of the Manager Business and Financial Performance.

 

Supervision Given:

None.

 

Position Summary/Accountabilities:

For assigned Business Group, responsible for coordinating and tracking the financial performance and the performance measures in order to support the goal of continuously improving operational performance and profitability. Responsible for O&M and capital budget coordination, monitoring and forecasting, project analysis. Provides accounting and business support to the assigned management team.

 

Job Functions:

Leads and drives the development and maintenance of financial models/systems to analyze and forecast financial performance. Reports monthly financial results including variance analysis, end-of-year forecasts and makes recommendations necessary to meet financial obligations.

 

Drives the development of business group budget guidelines. Provides guidelines and assistance to Business Group Directors and their managers in the development of budgets, budget variance explanations and year-end forecasts, and in the understanding of budget reports.Manages financial and budget initiatives by providing budget strategies, guidelines, coordination, training, economic and financial analysis, financial performance measures, rate case support, etc. Performs financial and economic analysis as necessary. Responsible for supporting management of program expenditures, which includes budgeting, reporting, and monitoring.

Responsible for collection of performance data on an on-going basis and maintain performance measures that are simple to understand, use and report on in a timely basis.

Provides analysis of performance data for performance variance and assists Business Group Directors and their managers with continuous improvement efforts.

Provides training of employees in financial analysis and budgeting.

Provides support and training for utilization of ERP system and supporting systems (spreadsheets, templates, etc.)

Key member of team accountable for process improvement.

Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with manager on unusual matters.

May be assisted by Entry Level personnel.

Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.

Has appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision.

 

Physical Requirements & Environmental:

Physical requirements include talking in front of groups, finger dexterity, sitting for long periods of time, and hearing, seeing and driving a vehicle. Environmental requirements include working indoors.

 

Technical/Job Skill Qualifications:

The candidate must meet the following minimum qualifications and have demonstrated the following technical or job skills:

 

Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree from an accredited institution, with a degree in finance, accounting, business administration or mathematics.

 

Intermediate Level 3+ to 5 years of progressively responsible experience including business planning, quality management, cost accounting, capital expenditure control, O&M planning, financial management reporting, performance measurement, benchmarking.

 

Demonstrated use of mathematical skills or research techniques to solve complex problems.

 

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.

 

Proficiency in computer word processing, slide presentations, and development of spreadsheets within a windows environment, using Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel. Experience with Microsoft Access is preferred.

 

Knowledge of PeopleSoft ERP system, data warehouse technology, and/or InfoMaker helpful.

 

Demonstrated effective leadership and training skills.

 

Demonstrated strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.

 

Ability to work in a diverse work environment.

Planning, Prioritizing and Goal Setting - Able to prepare for emerging customer needs; manage multiple projects; determine project urgency in a meaningful and practical way; use goals to guide actions and create detailed action plans; organize and schedule people and tasks.

 

Customer Focus - Able to demonstrate a high level of service delivery; do what is necessary to ensure customer satisfaction; deal with service failures and prioritize customer needs.
