CONTROLLER - INVESTMENT

 

Our client, an early stage privately held fixed income asset management services firm, has a key opportunity for an industry trained Controller.  This newly created position will work closely with the CFO and COO, and be involved in all areas of accounting and reporting for the organization.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

?  Assists in determining accounting policy for funds and all complex financial instruments.

?  Develops and monitors expense budgets for funds.

?  Drafts quarterly and annual financial statements for SEC filings.

?  Performs quarterly tax and compliance tests for REIT.

?  Ensures all financial data included in SEC filings are in compliance with regulatory requirements.

?  Sets and enhances accounting controls and procedures.

?  Performs oversight of Fund Accounting Administrator to ensure Fund accounting records accuracy.

 

EXPERIENCE/QUAL/EDU: 

 

?  BS in Accounting, Business, related field or equivalent work experience.

?  MBA or CPA a plus.

?  7-10 years experience in mutual fund accounting, administration, tax, auditing or related business activity.

?  Current knowledge of key mutual fund/hedge fund accounting and administrative functions, including understanding of securities processing, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and general ledger accounting for mutual funds/ hedge funds, as well as SEC and IRS compliance requirements.

?  Working knowledge of Regulation S-X related to mutual fund/ hedge fund financial reporting and disclosure requirements.

?  Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, and proven ability to identify, analyze and resolve technical and operational issues with minimal supervision.

?  Proficient in desktop PC applications.

SALARY:
$100,000 to $125,000 +
