Cash Application & Reporting Specialist

Mission:  Manage all aspects of customer cash application and to establish a strong working relationship with accounting.

 

Core Accountabilities:

60%Assist Credit Manager and Credit Analysts in all daily functions.  Apply all company check receipts; create all debit back-up.  Provide proof of delivery to resolve shortages, returns, and deductions using multiple carrier websites to track shipments for customers.  Mail unexplained debit deduction letters along with supporting documents to resolve unexplained deductions and duplicate credit deductions.  Support compliance department in efforts to resolve deductions issues.  Apply credit memos to deductions to avoid duplication.  Process new accounts and give to credit analyst.  Daily A/R to general ledger reconciliation.  Daily deposit summary.  Perform monthly A/R close.  Ability to interface with the Accounting group regarding general ledger, transaction coding, and other AR accounting issues.

 

30 %  Contact overdue accounts by phone to secure acceptable payment arrangements.  Handle calls and concerns from accounts regarding payments and deductions; research back-up information when needed.  Pursue customers to file claims for shortages when customer routing is used.  File claims with traffic for shortages involving Converse routing.  Advise credit analysts of unexplained deductions to work toward resolution.

 

10%  Prepare, monitor, and maintain all placement and bankruptcy accounts.  Work with agencies and bankruptcy accounts to maximize recovery and advise of documentation received.

 

Mimimum Skills Requirements and Work Experience:2-year degree in Accounting, Finance or General Business or relevant work experience2-4  years minimum of Credit, Collections, or A/R experience requiredMust be proficient in Excel and Word.  General knowledge of Accounting.Ability to work with little or no supervisionStrong communication and organizational skills a must.Ability to develop strong relationships
