Certified Construction Payroll Coordinator - Santa Ana, CA - 48k

A leading Asphalt Paving Company in Orange County, CA seeks an experienced Construction Payroll Associate. Collectively our client has a proven track record of aggressive corporate growth and success, as Southern California's Largest Asphalt Paving Company.

 

You will perform a variety of payroll and accounting tasks related to the maintenance / processing of 300 employees both hourly and salaried..

 

Payroll is weekly and certified, with multiple jobs and activity codes for each job.  As such, you do need to be comfortable with heavy data entry.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:  Compile and process payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, fringe benefits and other related union and employee information from timesheets and other records. Prepare and issue, and distribute paychecks. Prepare documents for hiring or terminating employees and verify accuracy of employee-related data required for processing. Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll. Record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage and union dues for each employee to update master payroll records. Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes and deductions. Prepare and distribute Certified Payroll reports as required. Keep records of daily, weekly, monthly quarterly and annual closing related to payroll data.  Perform additional assignments per controller's direction.

 

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 3-5 years verifiable employment history.  Minimum of 3 years payroll experience in a construction environment.At least 1-2 years of business school, accounting training. Intermediate knowledge of general construction payroll and accounting (accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing and maintenance of bank accounts).  Exceptional oral and verbal communication skills.  You must clear a credit check, background check, initial and subsequent random drug testing.

 

The ideal candidate must be a multi-tasker and detail oriented.  To be successful you must also be a team player, who enjoys working with a diverse group of 5-6 members in a casual environment.
