COMMODITY SPECIALIST


Job Description:


Coordinates commodity purchasing activities with the outsourcing team, manufacturing, logistics, and engineering departments. Acquires and maintains technical understanding of products and supply chain activities necessary to support smooth transition of products into contract manufacturer hands. Performs cost analysis and volume planning. Negotiates and assign contracts. Monitors the cost, schedule, and scope of commodity items to assure best quality at best value and longevity of product life. May recommend cost savings proposals for commodity components managed at the CM?s. Manages supplier and supply chain vendors to execute strategic material programs, inventory turns levels. Plays a key role in defining component/product life cycles and recommendations for last time buys. Manages projects and activities of others when necessary.

 

Required Skills:
Requires a BA or BS or equivalent experience.
Minimum 8 years experience in supply chain/commodity procurement in electronics industry.
Strong understanding of inventory impact, costing activities and price negotiation..
Experiencing using SAP or equivalent ERP database systems.
Must have a demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals and meet objectives in a high paced company.
Requires strong Microsoft office computer skills with the ability to provide management updates, presentations, supplier communications and detailed analysis.

 

Required Experience:
Responsibilities will include management of supplier relationships, contract negotiations, supplier liabilities, department procedures, SAP procurement database improvements, reporting of key success indicators, and additional purchasing functions or projects as assigned by procurement management. Will with Procurement and Operations management to develop outsourcing plans, supply chain solutions, project schedules, and cost savings objectives
