COMPENSATION CONSULTING SENIOR MANAGER
POSITION SUMMARY
Grant Thornton's Compensation & Benefits Consulting (CBC) group draws upon the resources of the best and brightest professionals in the industry. This specialty service line serves as the support center for federal, state and local, and international tax advice for our tax professionals and clients. Our specialists are dedicated to delivering value-added, client-focused advisory services that address all of our clients' human resource business needs.
As regulatory changes impact the landscape of how companies compensate their executives, consulting opportunities abound to help organizations and boards review compensation packages and design new ones. We need an expert with a broad range of experience in executive and broad-based compensation and, to a lesser extent, employee benefits, for our Compensation and Benefits Consulting (CBC) practice to take advantage of the opportunities that continue to present themselves.
Grant Thornton LLP is seeking a Compensation Consulting Senior Manager for our CBC practice in [FILL IN OFFICE]. This Senior Manager will serve as a regional subject matter practice leader and will procure, develop, and complete compensation consulting engagements such as compensation committee advisory services covering compensation benchmarking, equity-based compensation programs, incentive compensation, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, and procedural due diligence. This individual will also have a broad working knowledge of benefits and human resource consulting services and be well suited to work with a small team of consultants on a broad array of compensation and benefit consulting projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.
-Address, research, and consult on complex technical issues specific to compensation / executive compensation consulting and prepare related written communications.
-Provide timely and creative responses to technical inquiries from operating offices.
-Assist with the firm's federal tax think tank, which is responsible for identifying and developing value-added strategies and solutions.
-Facilitate and conduct firm-wide training and communications relating to compensation consulting matters.
-Monitor technical developments and write articles for publication in the firm's "Hot Topics" newsletter.
-Provide thought leadership in the business and tax community.
-Work closely with partners, managers, and staff to integrate practice development and client service.
-Manage, coach, and motivate staff to achieve goals for performance and professional development.
-Attend professional development and training seminars on a regular basis.
-Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in a related field. An advanced degree and / or professional certifications preferred.
-Minimum of twelve years of experience in compensation, preferably with a large accounting firm or major consulting firm.
-Superior technical skills.
-Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
-Ability to manage competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment.
-Outstanding leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
-Computer expertise including knowledge of applicable software and technology.
-Ability to work additional hours and travel on a regional basis as needed.
