Compliance Specialist

At Hanson Building Materials America, you will have the opportunity to join a cohesive team environment within a very successful, profitable company.  The Compliance Specialist ? Auditor position provides staff support for the internal controls testing and documentation required as a part of Sarbanes-Oxley Act.  This position will also support the Turnbull compliance effort for the division.  The Compliance Specialist ? Auditor protects assets by completing audits; ensuring compliance with regulations and internal controls; recommending improvements in internal control structure; guiding the work of auditors.  This position is located at the headquarters in Dallas, TX.

 

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

 
Execute internal test work for compliance audit.
Maintain documentation for internal controls compliance.
Recommend changes in Hanson processes that make company more efficient and cost effective.
Support compliance efforts towards Turnbull (U.K. risk/control assessment) reporting.
Assist with transaction (i.e. merger/acquisition) due diligence as necessary.
Ensures compliance with regulations and controls by examining and analyzing records, reports, operating practices, and documentation; recommending opportunities to strengthen the internal control structure.
Verifies assets and liabilities by comparing items to documentation.
Completes audit work papers and memorandums by documenting audit tests and findings.
Communicates audit progress and findings by preparing reports; providing information in meetings.

 

 Qualifications:

 
Bachelor degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
Five years related Accounting/Audit experience.
SOX and Turnbull Audit experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
