Compliance Specialist - (SG12823)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

All testing listed below requires: data collection, data manipulation, data analysis, system processing, and interpretation accurately and on a timely basis.

o Form 5500 completion including all schedules and, if necessary, Form 5558 extensions.
o Completion of ADP/ACP (401k/401m) testing.
o Completion of 415(c) (Annual Addition) testing.
o Completion of 410(b) (Minimum Coverage) testing.
o Completion of 401(a)(4) (General Non-discrimination) testing.
o Completion of 416 (Top Heavy) Testing.
o Completion of "projected" ADP/ACP (401k/401m) testing.

The Compliance Specialist serves as a "resident expert" on current relevant law and best practices in the compliance field. To this end, the Compliance Specialist:

o Remains abreast of current law and procedures through self-initiated learning utilizing internal company resources and external classes and seminars.
o Has the ability to explain complex theories in "layman's terms".
o Displays patience and tolerance when educating others or when interpreting testing results.
o Gives positive feedback to coworkers.

As the Compliance Department is a deadline intensive environment, the Compliance Specialist must remain aware of pending due dates, plan work in advance, update managers, clients, and coworkers as to status, and, when necessary, request assistance in a timely and appropriate manner.

The Compliance Specialist must aggressively look for better methods to promote efficiencies and client service.

The Compliance Specialist must proactively work externally with clients and internally with coworkers to promote efficiencies both on current and future compliance services.

The Compliance Specialist must have the necessary analytical and communication skills to interpret test results and convey the results and subsequent impact to clients and colleagues in an understandable manner.

When appropriate for a client, the Compliance Specialist should be aware of and present opportunities to cross-sell other company services.

o Education and/or Experience - Two years of relevant experience is required.
o Language Skills - The ability to articulate complex issues is required.
o Mathematical Skills - Mid-level algebraic skills are required.
o Reasoning Ability - The ability to understand and interpret complex compliance issues is essential.
o Computer Skills - Expertise on the company recordkeeping system and Excel are required, as is a familiarity with Access and Word.
o Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - ASPA and CEBS designations are preferred.
