Controller

ShareBuilder Securities Corporation, a leading provider of online investing tools for the long-term investor, has an immediate opportunity for a Controller. Primary responsibilities of this position include managing all corporate accounting functions including cash management, stock options administration and internal audit (currently a team of eight professionals).

 

Responsibilities include:

 Manage all corporate accounting functions including hiring and retention of staff at the level of skill necessary to meet company requirements and conducting monthly and other periodic meetings with senior managers to discuss financial results.Responsible for maintenance of all accounting systems and software including general ledger accounting, accounting treatment for new corporate initiatives, state-by-state tax guidance and special projects.Maintain compliance with GAAP; maintain internal controls appropriate for accounting and regulated environmentCoordinate annual corporate insurance renewal.Manage annual financial and 401(k) Plan audit engagements, including preparation of draft financial statements with footnotes and participate in regulatory audit preparation for annual audit engagement.Participate in meetings with the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.Participate in benefits administration with Human Resources.Manage external income tax engagement.Collaborate with Broker Dealer on financial reporting.Participate in weekly management meetings.Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper accounting for new business activities.

Position Qualifications include:

 5+ years managing an accounting function, including strong review and reconciliation skills.CPA license required.Securities/Financial Services industry experience a plusInventory and/or tax accounting experience, including ability to research state tax regulations and make recommendations based on findings.Able to perform revenue, expense and gross margin analysis to assist with business decisions around retail initiatives.Strong analytical skills.Skilled with systems, including Excel, Word, Access, integrated accounting software and report writing products.Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with external and internal contacts, which possess various levels of technical expertise.Willingness to create processes and procedures from the ground up.
