Job Description


Canteen Vending Services, a Division of Compass Group North America is seeking a Division Controller who will be reporting to the Divisional President and the Vice President of Finance.


 


Recipe to Succeed:


Work directly with the Divisional President and the Canteen Vice President of Finance to effectively manage operational and financial activities of the Division

Train, develop and manage a staff of ten plus on vending industry operations and financial management

The development and management of the Divisional operating budget

Financial statements prepared in a timely and accurate manner

Accounting conforms to generally accepted accounting principles

Balance sheet accounts reconciled monthly

Analyze income statement and balance sheet for possible misstatement

Lend financial perspective to business issues facing the Division

Analyze financial statements for areas of profit improvement and recommend action

Quantify potential business opportunities

Teach operators how to better understand and use financial statements

Provide data for operational reviews

With operations’ input, provides business forecasts

Keep in constant contact with operations to recognize change in trends

Provide annual forecast, by month, by line of business; update monthly.

Provide quarterly forecast to Corporate

Oversees development of Division’s financial plan; ensures meaningful internal review of plan by field and division staff & meets submission date requirements

Maintains internal controls within the Division

Keeps operations focused on optimization of working capital

Ensures consistent and equitable administration of human resource policies, procedures and guidelines to facilitate effective employee relations and support the preferred employer focus 

Prepares and conducts performance appraisals, and audits performance appraisals completed by subordinates and associate files 





Necessary Ingredients:


Bachelor’s and/or Masters Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance and CPA required

Three to five years of experience overseeing a Division with multiple operating units

Ten plus years of Accounting/Finance experience

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Ability to effectively present information and respond to question from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Proven management ability and leadership qualities (minimum 3 years management experience)

Ability to manage multiple priorities and relationship 

Capacity to promote camaraderie and team spirit

Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills 

Agility to plan, organize and control complex processes 

Ability to analyze moderately complex financial information 

Detail oriented with strong analytical skills

Proficient in Excel, Word, knowledge of Access, PowerPoint, SAP advantageous

Able to travel up to 40% and overnight as needed
