Director of Finance – Tools & Software Revenue SJAKS-19554

HIGH-TECH Corporation headquartered in Santa Clara is looking to hire a Director of Finance ? Tools & Software Revenue who will be the technical expert in revenue recognition and responsible for intergrity and accuracy of revenue accounting and reporting.

This position will report to the SVP Finance and be responsible for pre and post-sales support for revenue recognition particularly in our Tools and Software businesses, as well as managing the revenue process within Finance.

 
Position Responsibilities:

  * Participate in revenue contract pricing, structuring and review together with Contracts and Sales teams.
  * Document revenue contracts and related revenue accounting treatment under current revenue recognition rules such as SAB 104, SOP 97-2, SOP 98-9, EITF 00-21, and TB 90-1.
  * Ensures all revenue deferrals are recorded properly, and the recognition of revenue occurs in the proper periods.
  * Overall responsibility for revenue and deferred revenue related accounts, as well as forecasting deferred revenue amortization.
  * Assist in monthly close process.
  * Routinely provide revenue recognition guidance and training to cross-functional organizations including Contracts, Technical, Sales and Finance.
  * Prepare revenue recognition position papers and work with external auditors to ensure that revenue recognition interpretations are consistent and compliant with all aspects of US GAAP.
  * Ensure internal controls over revenue and deferred revenue processes are well designed, operate effectively and in compliance with S-Ox requirements.
  * Participate in general process improvements in revenue accounting and reporting-related areas.
  * Prepare various scheduled and ad hoc revenue reports.
  * Oversee invoicing process

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  * Ability to understand and effectively apply technical accounting guidance and US GAAP to software and hardware revenue recognition
  * 6-8 Years relevant services & software revenue recognition experience, working within a finance / accounting environment or Big Four accounting firm
  * Experience with revenue and order management cycles and processes
  * Demonstrated strong leadership skills, including the ability to successfully manage conflicting priorities, motivate team members and inspire collaboration. This includes the ability to effectively manager multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
  * Ability to identify contract issues and work with members of the sales team to structure contracts in a manner to eliminate revenue recognition issues.
  * Ability to understand legal contracts and determine proper revenue treatment
  * Excellent verbal, written and listening skills, as well as the ability to interact professionally with a wide range of staff
  * Hands-on experience with ERP systems (Oracle) preferred

 
Qualifications, Education:  Bachelor's degree in Accounting and experience with a Big Four Accounting firm and CPA qualification are essential.  Excellent knowledge of US GAAP.
