JOB DESCRIPTION

 



Director of International Accounting Operations (Director) will act as liaison between Corporate and the Markets.  This key position will be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting and analysis for the Markets. The Director ensures the accuracy and integrity of the Markets? books of records; including those used for external reporting, internal reporting, and statutory reporting. The Director will provide analytical support to senior corporate management and market accounting teams.  The Director will lead and participate in projects leading to improvements in processes and controls. This individual will supervise senior market analysts, and will personally be assigned to major projects requiring high level analysis and creativity (Shared Services Analysis, Fixed Asset System implementation assistance, Hyperion Financial Management and other ad hoc projects). Travel requirements will vary according to nature of current projects; will likely average 10-30% but may require higher levels of travel for some periods of time.

Responsibilities

Accounting - Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all books of records, including financial statements and general ledger data. Actively participates in the accounting process by providing insight and support to senior corporate management and Market accounting teams. Directs and manages all accounting functions related to the Markets.  Act as a technical resource for accounting issues in the Markets (e.g., acquisition accounting, lease accounting, etc.).  Responsible for ensuring that "COMPANY" books of records are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal reporting requirements and relevant external reporting (e.g., SEC), and international statutory regulations.  Provide support to PWC with the year-end external audit and quarterly reviews.

Financial Reporting and Analysis - Directs and coordinates the development of insightful and timely financial reports and analysis for the business unit and the Corporation utilizing Hyperion Financial Management System. The reports will allow for the effective monitoring and control of Market performance, provide early identification of key issues jointly with the FP&A group that exist in achieving plan and forecast, and will measure key business indicators. Prepares presentations, reports and analysis to be used in the monthly financial close reporting package. Ensuring compliance with the company's reporting requirements. Provides insightful, clear analysis of the Markets operations. Includes analyzing performance versus various measures to identify areas for improvement and potential problems.

Process ? Identify opportunities for process improvements or automation and then drive the implementation of the solution. Ensures that any process issues are identified and resolved to ensure timely reporting of SEC filings (Form 10-K, 10-Q).

Staffing ? Hire, retain, train, develop and manage a multi-lingual staff of senior market analyst. 

Sarbanes Oxley ? Works closely with the Financial Operations group to ensure all financial controls are properly documented and executed in accordance with prescribed procedures.Requirements

? BS or BA in Accounting (preferred) and or Finance, with over ten years of relevant experience

? Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese IS REQUIRED

? CPA (preferred) and/or MBA

? Big-4 experience is preferred.

? Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and familiarity with International Accounting practices, concepts and standards.

? Accounting experience with US multi-national company with Latin America operations preferred

? Hyperion Financial Management and Oracle 11i knowledge a plus

? Ability to work with minimum supervision and with heavy workloads. Proven ability to complete high quality work product within established time frames.
