Director of SEC Reporting, to $140k plus bonus

Our client, a leading Fortune 500 company in the Loop, is seeking a Director of Financial Reporting.  This individual will prepare and review all financial SEC filings, research technical accounting issues, prepare financial analyses for Senior Executives, the Board of Directors (?BOD?) and management, monitor SEC policies and procedures, and assist with other special projects.  Key responsibilities include:

Position Objectives:
Timely preparation of financial SEC filings in compliance with SEC rules and GAAP
Research, document and present company?s position on technical accounting issues
Prepare other financial information for Senior Executives, the BOD and management
Ensure compliance with and maintenance of team?s policies, procedures and internal controls
Develop and manage SEC Accounting Team to facilitate growth and positive work environment

Essential duties:
Draft and review financial SEC filings on Forms 10-Q and 10-K; assist in review of other filings
Work with external auditors to enable timely review of external financial statements
Research technical accounting issues for new and proposed management initiatives and new accounting standards; document and present company?s position
Prepare various financial analyses, including earnings release and Audit Committee schedules, as well as information for stock-based compensation matters
Ensure compliance with policies and procedures; review and update team?s SOX documentation
Other projects as assigned, including review of potential acquisitions and financing activities

Required skills:
Seven to twelve years of progressive experience in public accounting and financial reporting
Excellent written communications skills and attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills
Ability to research and resolve technical accounting issues and SEC reporting matters
Quantitative and qualitative analytical problem solving skills
Strong time management skills, including ability to manage multiple activities
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and Word (advanced skills beneficial)
