DOMESTIC TAX COMPLIANCE SUPERVISOR


EMC is currently looking for someone to supervise the state income tax compliance function for EMC and its domestic subsidiaries. Work within a dynamic environment that allows for movement within the department to experience other areas of tax for career growth. Successful candidate must possess federal and state experience. Position reports to the Domestic Tax Manager.


Responsibilities



Responsible for supervising the state return process. This includes developing a process, supervising personnel in the process and reviewing returns and positions taken on returns.

Responsible for filing accurate, timely state income tax returns.

Work with the State Tax Director in minimizing the company's tax liability.

Work closely with the Domestic Tax Supervisor responsible for the federal return process.

Supervise, manage, mentor, and teach professional staff.

Research federal and state income tax issues and issue timely recommendations.

Prepare and/or review federal and state pre-acquisition filings of acquired companies.

Respond to questions from other departments seeking advice on tax implications of corporate transactions.

Establish procedures that prevent penalties and interest on income tax compliance.

Responsible for state income tax estimated and/or extension tax payments.

Ensure that planning opportunities are availed of when preparing federal and state income tax returns.

Participate in developing systems & procedures to continuously improve EMC's tax compliance.

Participate in due diligence for M&A activity when required.

Work with the Audit and Planning team for federal and/or state income tax audits and/or planning.

Support the Domestic Tax Manager as needed.


Experience and Education


College Degree - BS or BBA with CPA and Masters in Taxation (or MST candidate)
5+ years of combined tax experience (public & private in a corporate tax environment)
Must include supervisory or managerial experience.


Skills:



CPA with public accounting experience and experience with corporate tax department.

Experience with tax preparation software (Corptax experience a plus)

Experience with Federal return preparation.

Experience working in a multistate environment.

Above average communication skills (oral & written) required
