LITIGATION SUPPORT, VALUATION & FORENSICS - SENIOR MANAGER
POSITION SUMMARY
The Forensic Accounting and Investigative Services practice of Grant Thornton's Economic Advisory Services (EAS) offers a broad range of services in litigation support and business valuation and assist our clients with challenging financial and economic issues in complex litigation and other business dispute cases as well as services in investigations of allegations related to fraud and/or irregularities, bankruptcy, workouts, turnarounds, economic impact studies, computer fraud, and forensics.
The Senior EAS Manager is responsible for overseeing all phases of project and engagement management for multiple clients in a wide variety of industries. Responsibilities include planning, directing, and completing projects and services in litigation support, business valuation, and forensics and developing and managing staff. The Senior EAS Manager works closely with partners and staff and plays a key role in client management, practice development, and business development. The Senior EAS Manager is responsible for an assigned group of clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.
-Oversee the efforts of multiple client engagements; plan, execute, direct, and complete EAS projects and services in a wide variety of industries; and manage to budget.
-Understand and manage firm risk on projects and proposals.
-Develop a project vision and set challenging personal and client service team goals.
-Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews.
Litigation Support:
-Consult on large and complex litigated disputes and provide valuable financial insight and clarity to counsel during all stages of a business dispute, from case theory development and discovery to expert witness testimony.
-Serve as consultant to attorneys, assist in preparing questions for discovery and deposition of potential witnesses, serve as an expert witness, assist in reviewing and refuting the testimony and analysis of other expert witnesses, design court exhibits, and participate in depositions and court as necessary.
Valuation:
-Oversee and apply business valuation approaches and methods to a variety of tangible and non-tangible assets, including equity valuations, option analyses, and purchase allocations.
-Oversee the assembly, maintenance, and finalization of working papers that support valuations.
Other:
-Plan, organize, conduct, manage, and oversee a variety of forensic accounting activities to investigate fraud or other irregularities.
-Oversee and perform data- and document-intensive financial analysis and modeling/projections, strategic analysis, economic and statistical analysis, due diligence, valuation analysis, damage calculations and analysis, forensic accounting procedures, GAAP/GAAS litigation support, industry research, and related investigative assignments.
-Oversee and perform research related to cases as well as document identification, acquisition, and management, and the preparation of demonstratives; write opinion letters and reports.
-Participate in conducting presentations and seminars.
-Write articles for various industries, firm, and other publications.
-Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively.
-Consult, work with, and service client base to make recommendations on business and process improvement and serve as a business advisor to client.
-Play a key role in the future business generation and continued development of the client base within industry groups and identify future client needs and new business opportunities.
-Use established network of business relationships within industry groups to generate new sales opportunities.
-Maintain strong client relations and cross-sell services within the assigned group of clients.
-Recruit and retain managers, senior associates, and associates.
-Coach staff and motivate others to accept new ideas, practices, or action and achieve goals and objectives for performance and professional development.
-Attend professional development and training seminars on a regular basis.
-Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
Job Experience:
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
-A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in public accounting or consulting with a minimum of two years in litigation support, business valuation, or forensics.
-Certification/license as CPA, CFE, CMA, CFA, or CIA
-Accounting, finance, and economics knowledge; proficiency in US GAAP and GAAS preferred.
-Litigation Support/Consulting: Experience should include a demonstrated ability to assist litigators on developing, evaluating, and settling case strategies and preparation of attorney work product to support case strategies; experience preparing expert reports, preferably in federal court for damage calculations, and documenting the results of investigations; experience in damage calculations and providing expert testimony in deposition or trial.
-Experience in fraud investigation and forensic accounting a plus.
-Highly analytical with expertise in financial analysis and modeling, econometrics, statistics, and regression analysis.
-Ability to manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment.
-Demonstrated experience in practice development, business development, and managing other managers.
-Outstanding leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written (including technical writing), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
-Computer expertise including knowledge of audit-preparation software and an understanding of the impact of technology.
-Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
