TAX FAMILY WEALTH PLANNING - MANAGER/TAX CONSULTANT
POSITION SUMMARY
Our Family Wealth Planning practice, part of Strategic Federal Tax Services (SFTS), uses specialized local and national staff to provide expert services to our clients. Grant Thornton's wealth planning and business succession services help business owners and corporate executives enhance and preserve their wealth. Our planning professionals provide comprehensive tax and wealth retention advice to business owners, entrepreneurs, executives and high net worth families. We offer income tax planning, personal financial planning, and retirement and estate planning for business owners, corporate executives, individuals, and family groups.
The Family Wealth Planning Tax Manager is responsible for managing tax engagements and providing tax consulting services to our clients. The Tax Manager works with other professionals in Family Wealth Planning and SFTS to build a profitable practice, delivering high value solutions and income, estate, and gift tax planning strategies to the high net worth market. The client base is primarily comprised of owners of closely held businesses and other high-income individuals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.
-As a Family Wealth Planning Tax Manager, an important portion of responsibilities will be in the development of the practice, as well as attracting and mentoring talented professionals.
-Manage the efforts of multiple client services teams on client engagements; plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects in a wide variety of industries; provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients; market, sell, design, and implement tax-planning strategies for clients and manage to budget.
-Provide tax planning and consulting to our firm's high net worth clients for estate, wills and trusts taxation, and individual income taxes. Interact closely with client's other advisors such as attorneys and financial asset managers.
-Understand and manage firm risk on tax services and proposals; ensure quality assurance process has been followed.
-Develop a project vision and set challenging personal and client service team goals.
-Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on tax projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews.
-Research and consult on tax matters, primarily in the federal estate, gift, charitable planning, and generation-skipping tax arenas.
-Formulate and deliver innovative tax planning and tax savings strategies.
-Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively.
-Consult, work with, and service client to make recommendations on business and process improvement and serve as a business advisor to client.
-Work closely with partners, managers, and staff to integrate practice development skills into a team approach to client service and new business development.
-Play a key role in the future business generation and continued development of the client base within industry groups and identify future client needs and new business opportunities.
-Use established network of business relationships within industry groups to generate new sales opportunities.
-Maintain strong client relations and cross-sell services within the assigned group of clients.
-Recruit and retain senior associates and associates.
-Coach staff and motivate others to accept new ideas, practices, or action and achieve goals and objectives for performance and professional development.
-Attend professional development and training seminars on a regular basis.
-Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA required. Masters in Taxation, LLM in Taxation, JD, or CFP, preferred.
-Five to eight+ years of progressive tax consulting and compliance in Family Wealth Planning or related area, in public accounting or consulting.
-Experience in dealing with family units with $25 million and above in net worth, and a proven track record in implementation of tax strategies.
-Experience in reviewing and preparing complex estate, trust, and individual returns.
-Experience in financial modeling and analysis.
-Superior analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills.
-Outstanding experience in staf
