PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
Provide monthly financial review and analysis of R&D departmental expenses compared to budget.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Track R&D departmental and project costs versus forecast and budget, and provide regular financial feedback to department and project managers
- Perform month end close, including PO and LRF reviews, accruals, intercompany entries, and account reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation of the Elan Pharmaceuticals annual operating budget and quarterly forecasts
- Participate in Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts
- Work closely with various levels of management to support executive decision-making
- Special projects as directed


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
B.A./B.S. degree in accounting or finance; with CPA credentials and strong finance background, including financial reporting and analysis experience preferably in R&D.

SPECIAL TRAINING/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- CPA
- Strong interpersonal/presentation skills
- Strong PC and Excel spreadsheet skills
- Work experience with SAP highly desirable
