FINANCIAL CONSULTANT

GENERAL SUMMARY
Provides financial analysis of the operational and financial performance of Coventry Health Care. Coordinates activities associated with financial trend analysis, utilization, modeling methodology, process improvement and reporting to senior management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
? Analyzes financial, utilization, and trend data and modifies reporting systems accordingly. Reports analysis and trend results to senior management.
? Plans and implements methods to build models required for consistent reporting for initiatives such as risk-share deals, specialty capitation deals, M &A financial integration, market expansion studies, and provider contract changes.
? Coordinates/prepares various audits, develops budgets and conducts ROI analysis for contract decision making. Makes recommendations for change as needed.
? Oversees functions such as billing/collections, the calculation of monthly medical expense accrual for financial reporting, and/or review of employer loss ratio reports.
? Contributes to product pricing decisions as needed.
? Reviews provider contracts, prepares provider settlements and evaluates provider specific data for inconsistencies in charges and/or utilization.
? Manage banking or similar external relationships as needed.
? Performs special projects and other duties as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
? Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience. Master?s degree or CPA preferred.
? Substantial (usually 7+ years) directly related financial analysis experience.
? Significant knowledge of generally accepted financial analyst or accounting principles, applications and accounting systems.
? Thorough understanding of HMO/managed care industry requirements.
? Proficient with data base software, spreadsheet software and accounting mainframe systems. ? Project/team leadership or supervisory experience required.
? Strong organization, coordination, and communication skills.
