My client located in the Washington DC Metropolitan area is a leading global company, with 2005 revenues of $11 billion.  Their 30,000 employees are committed to operational excellence and meeting the world's growing business needs.  In as little as over two decades, the company has transformed from an ambitious concept to industry leader.  This growth is the result of bold and innovative development projects in the face of daunting challenges.  Due to this amazing growth they are now searching for a Financial Systems Analyst II. The Financial System Analyst II is responsible for providing functional application support to users of Corporate Financial systems which include: Comshare MPC, Great Plains GL System and Upstream WebLink .  Functional support includes not only daily maintenance tasks relating to system security and trouble shooting user issues (based upon requests to either the Comshare Support mailbox or helpline) but also project work relating to such company-wide activities as external reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and the collection of operational data. On such projects, this individual is responsible for both assisting with the functional aspects of developing and implementing the new procedures into current applications as well as continuing to maintain the processes post roll-out. He or she must function as a project manager and coordinate project plans and timelines with both the end-user and Information Technology. It is expected that the Financial Systems Analyst II not only understand  but also adhere to the pertinent Sarbanes Controls surrounding Change Management and that they maintain appropriate records.  This includes such areas as developmental and end-user testing and the release of changes into production.

Job Duties

1. Supervises Tier 1 Customer Support (system security, user problems accessing the application) and assisting with tasks in the event of a backup.  Provides Tier 2 Customer Support (functional tasks such as creating new views and accounts), and works with both IT and GEAC Tech Support on Tier 3 issues (e.g. Intercompany Report not pulling all journals correctly). This individual assists with the maintenance of the Comshare.Support mailbox.
2. Ensures the monthly close processes run smoothly in the Comshare application, this includes the monthly application preparatory work such as updating views and/or reports. Assists the global user group as necessary and supports the corporate accounting team. Ensure all process controls and procedures are adhered to.
3. Makes modifications to views and create new views as required by users. (Coordinated effort with Senior Financial Analyst)
4. Maintain the entity & account structures.  (Coordinated effort with Senior Financial Analyst)
5. Participates in weekly meeting with other company Departments apprising them of project status, clarifying issues and, if necessary, shifting priorities.
6. Serves as a liaison with IT supporting the Comshare users and troubleshooting issues.
7. Participates in all application upgrades and testing in all environments environment.  Supervises the creation of test scripts by the Financial Systems Analyst I.
8. Work with users to identify inefficiencies in processes and propose solutions, where possible. This includes the activities of consolidation, data collection and reports for end-user analysis. There is an expectation that this individual will provide input into process improvement, and assistance in the creation of project plans and timelines.
9. Supervises the training of users on the Comshare and Weblink applications. 
10. Supervises the Maintenance of the current Microsoft Access databases for various reporting needs not currently being met within Comshare as pertains to security and the approval/submission hierarchies.
11. Supervises security management within the Comshare application.
12. Maintains documentation on system changes and enhancements per SOX requirements.
13. Plays an active role in the annual security and controls audit as required by SOX.
14. Assists with the functional design, testing, and implementation of all application programs. Ensures adequate test procedures are defined and documented, and implemented system changes. Assist users with project related (e.g.: new views, accounts, data collection processes) User Acceptance Testing.  Create Test Scripts as necessary.
15. Participates in other special projects as directed by the Corporate Financial Systems Manager.

Educational Requirements:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Financial Systems or other related field.
2. Minimum of three years of progressively more responsible assignments in accounting (public or general), finance or a financial systems group. Minimum of two years experience using and/or maintaining financial and accounting systems. Previous experience in a multi-national business desirable.

 

Salary/Pay Rate: $65 ? 80k + 10 ? 15% bonus +
