AUDIT MANAGER WITH GOVERNMENT EXPERIENCE

POSITION SUMMARY

Grant Thornton's Global Public Sector, based in Alexandria, VA, is a global management consulting business with the mission of providing responsive and innovative financial, performance management and systems solutions to governments and international organizations.
The Audit Manager is responsible for conducting and reporting on audits and assessments of federal entities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervise audit teams comprising a number of auditors in carrying out individual audits
- Develop proposals and recommendations for consideration by the Senior Audit Manager and Director on specific subject matter areas that should be covered in audits
- Supervise the development of detailed audit plans for the audit area assigned
- Provide continuous on-site leadership for the conduct of the assigned audits and make decision in connection with specific problems and issues that may arise
- Ensure that audits, related system reviews, and internal control assessments are performed with technical proficiency, in a timely manner, and in accordance with applicable professional accounting and auditing standards
- Recommend the expansion of conclusions of an audit based on judgments regarding existing findings
- Review and comment on work papers
- Oversee the preparation of audit reports to ensure findings and recommendations are objective, factual and in conformation with overall report-writing policies and standards
- Perform follow-up audits and special studies
- Evaluate the performance of team members assigned to include recommending awards, promotions, or disciplinary actions, as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

- Professional level knowledge of accounting and auditing as evidenced by a Bachelor's degree in a field related to accounting, such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included and was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing.
- Two full years of experience managing and overseeing financial statement audits
- CPA in good standing with the AICPA.
- US citizenship required.
- Relocation expenses will not be paid.
- Travel may be required.
