FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SENIOR ACCOUNTANT / FINANCIAL ANALYST

POSITION SUMMARY

Grant Thornton's Global Public Sector, based in Alexandria, VA, is a global management consulting business with the mission of providing responsive and innovative financial, performance management, and systems solutions to governments and international organizations.

The Federal Government Senior Accountant / Financial Analyst serves as a team member who assists in the preparation, assessment, and analysis of financial documents, and may also serve as a team member on financial system implementations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide technical advice and assistance on financial accounting and reporting.
-Review data in reports and financial statements.
-Identify problems and discrepancies, determine if adjustments or corrections are required, and take necessary action.
-Provide and implement solutions to correct internal control and reporting weaknesses.
-Prepare external financial management reports, statements, supporting schedules, justifications, and related documentation.
-Review and analyze the effect of new or revised regulatory changes and develop financial management reporting procedures.
-Provide user support for a broad array of financial applications.
-Compile information and make recommendations to enhance or improve newly implemented financial systems and interfaces.
-Analyze, evaluate, and report on functional system issues reported by users.
-Perform other job-related duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field such as Business Administration, Finance, or Public Administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in Accounting.
-Knowledge and experience in federal government accounting or consulting to the federal government.
-4+ years of federal accounting or financial management.
-US citizenship required and must be security clearance eligible.
-Relocation expenses will not be paid.
-Ability to work additional hours as needed.
-Travel may be required.
