INTERNAL CONTROLS MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY

Grant Thornton's Global Public Sector, based in Alexandria, VA, is a global management consulting business with the mission of providing responsive and innovative financial, performance management, and systems solutions to governments and international organizations.

The Senior Accountant will provide accounting and consulting services to the Department of Defense and works closely with our clients in a consultative capacity to help them solve their problems.

The Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing the execution of internal control assessment projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Direct teams responsible for conducting internal control assessments.
-Develop solutions and recommendations that are consistent with internal control requirements for the federal government.
-Provide continuous leadership to team members and clients.
-Ensure that internal control assessments are performed with technical proficiency, in a timely manner, and in accordance with applicable professional accounting and auditing standards.
-Direct the preparation of reports to ensure findings and recommendations are objective, factual and in conformation with overall report-writing policies and standards.
-Evaluate the performance of team members assigned to include recommending awards, promotions, or disciplinary actions, as appropriate.
-Perform other job-related duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Professional level knowledge of Accounting and federal financial management as evidenced by a Bachelor's degree in a field related to Accounting, such as Business Administration, Finance, or Public Administration that included and was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in Accounting or Auditing.
-At least five full years of experience managing financial management related projects.
-Background in internal control, A-123, or Sarbanes Oxley is required.
-Federal government financial management experience (working or consulting) is desirable.
-US citizenship required.
-Security clearance desirable.
-Relocation expenses will not be paid.
-Ability to work additional hours as needed.
-Travel may be required.
