Grants Accountanting Manager

Organize and implement the financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, billing, reporting and related activities to support the overall financial management of the association’s grants and contracts, to include the following: Proposal and budget preparation Federal and private donor compliance including regulatory reports as applicable Contract review and preparation Grant accounting, billing, budgeting and financial reporting Audit Schedule and reports Electronic grant submissions/revisions/cash requests etc. Audits Accounting Systems, policies and procedures Preparation/review appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements Provide assistance to the Assistant Executive Director, Accounting & Controller as needed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has fiscal federal and grants oversight responsibilities throughout the entire organization.

Qualifications :
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to communicate federal and audit requirements to a broad range of individuals to obtain compliance with federal regulation and the association's policy & procedures. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. INTERPERSONAL MANAGEMENT SKILLS Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and potentially confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy. Ability to listen, empathize, and respond effectively to staff and grantor inquiries. Ability to proactively recognize potential issues and address concerns appropriately and to effectively communicate this information to the Assistant Executive Director, Accounting & Controller when appropriate. Ability at establishing priorities, paying attention to details, and meeting tight deadlines for federal/auditor/grantor reports compliance is critical. Demonstrated problem solving skills necessary. COMPUTER SKILLS: Microsoft Office Suite, Solomon (Dynamics SL) and FRx Other Skills and Abilitites: NSF Fastlane, Automated Federal (Payment Management System) OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Requires specialized training in financial management of grants and contracts, A-133 audits, OMB Circulars (specifically A-122), FAR, GAAP, FASB, federal travel regulations, cost accounting and non-profit fund accounting. Must be very knowledgeable regarding indirect costs and fringe benefit allocation methodology.
