Hedge Fund Tax Associate

Well established multi-billion dollar hedge fund in Fairfield County, CT  has immediate opening for a Tax Associate.  Ideal candidate will be highly motivated and thrive in a  team atmosphere.  Candidate will utilize tax knowledge to handle broad range of corporate, partnership, individual and estate/trust matters with specific emphasis on capital markets, including securities trading, venture and private equity partnerships.

Key Responsibilities
Consulting on financial tax services including planning, research and compliance covering investment partnership, corporate, individual, estates, trusts, and  foundations for Federal, state and international matters
Prepare/review tax return filings for investment partnerships and the related GP entities, including adjusting compliance process to incorporate planning advice.
Prepare and/or review technical tax memos and identify the issue and make conclusions/ recommendations in outline format.
Liaise with fund accountants to integrate tax function with financial reporting to investors
Monitor current tax legal and regulatory developments to maintain and ensue proper compliance and to identify planning opportunities
Monitor capital transactions affecting widely -held portfolio investments to identify tax impact and potential planning opportunities i.e...tax arbitrage, foreign withhold
Work with technology group to develop computer and database functions and processes to automate the tax function.

Background Required
Bachelors Degree with emphasis on accounting, finance, or economics plus 3-5 years experience with a public accounting firm or large financial services organization. 
Understanding of financial products and trading strategies ie..stocks, options, swaps, forwards, futures, debt instruments, foreign currency, etc...
Outstanding research and writing skills
Knowledge of commercial research databases such as Lexis, RIA, BNA, and CCH
Solid presentation skills
Strong knowledge of Word and Excel.  Access a plus
Working knowledge of Fast Tax preferred

CPA strongly preferred, MS Tax a plus.
