Job Summary


 


An Import Agent will perform the day to day operations of customs formalities that comply with the current U.S. Regulations.  This person must be detail oriented and manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills.  The successful candidate will also be a self starter who learns quickly and can work under high pressure situations while providing excellent customer service.


 


 Duties and Responsibilities


 


1.  Obtain, prepare and submit documentation to US Customs as well as other government agencies (FDA, FCC, DOT, FWS, USDA).


 


2.  Process the following documents for clients: Power of Attorney, Credit application, US Customs Bond application, and ACH applications.


 


3.  Ensure cargo receives proper release notifications from US Customs and OGA's.


 


4.  Prepare warehouse entries and withdrawals.  Must be familiar with FTZ's


 


5.  Demonstrate thorough knowledge of United States importing requirements and possess the ability to maintain this information by using extensive resources available.


 


6.  Prepare delivery orders for cargo from both ocean and air carriers.  then ensure cargo is delivered to the client in a timely manner and the POD is entered into the system.


 


7.  Assign harmonized tariff numbers, duty rates, and valuation on import shipments into the Untied States.


 


8.  Maintain a high level of communication, both written and verbal, with clients to provide updated information on their shipments.


 


9.  Maintain recordkeeping standards according to US Customs regulations.

Minimum Requirements

 

1.  High School Diploma/GED with 4 years industry experience.

 

2.  Knowledge of state, federal and international applicable laws and regulations (Federal Maritime Commission, Interstate Commerce Commission, US Customs Regulations, Environmental Protection Agency)  and skill in import/export documentation requirements and preparation.

 

3.  Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills.

 

4.  Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

 

5.  Knowledge and experience in the following computer applications: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook: Windows operations systems, and Internet Explorer.

 

Preferred Requirements

 

1.Licensed US Customs Broker

 

2.  Certified Customs Specialist

 

3.  Bachelor's degree in Business

 

4.  Working knowledge of AS400 platform

 

5.  Hazmat training or other trade related courses
