Institutional Accounting Supervisor

The Supervisor will be responsible for managing the daily operations of an institutional accounting group. These groups provide operational support for several distribution channels within the worldwide investment management operations. These channels provide customized, non-standard services for several different product lines. The Supervisor will report to a Group Manager and assist him/her in the day-to-day activities of the group.

 

 

Major Responsibilities

 
Ensure that the daily responsibilities for each accountant in the group are completed.  Oversee and manage workflow to ensure the group?s daily goals and objectives have been met.
Participate in the development and completion of group goals.
Manage all aspects of client implementations, deconversions and plan actions, including identifying and requesting all relevant system requirements. Also, meet with client, prior trustees, etc. to ensure that all aspects of the event have been properly communicated and planned.
Establish operating policies and procedures.  Ensure controls are implemented and followed for any exception processing.
Identify and manage operational risks through identification, resolution and elevation of such risks.  Resolve independently and elevate.  Recommend actions/solutions to mitigate risks.

Requirements:

? Bachelor?s degree or equivalent work experience

? Three-plus years of experience in the financial services industry

? Strong leadership and organizational abilities

? In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial services industry and investment types

? Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, project planning and personnel management skills

? High-energy level, ability to juggle many tasks, results oriented

One of Boston's top investment management firms is currently seeking an internal auditor.

 

 

General responsibilities include, but not limited to:

 

Train staff in work procedures and evaluate performance.
Perform a variety audits, determine the audit objectives, audit work plans, extent of compliance with applicable SEC and NASD laws, ordinances, established policies, identified work standards and processes.

 Evaluate accounting methods and the effectiveness of internal and management controls.
Draft audit reports and recommend improvements in efficiency, effectiveness and financial controls; review findings with division and department heads.
Assist drafting the corporate policies and procedure for efficient and effective management of business processes.
Determine audit objectives, audit work plans, extent of compliance with applicable laws, ordinances and established policies, to ensure consistency with generally accepted auditing standards.

 

Required:

Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or economics

2-3 years public audit experience, OR 2-3 years audit within a regulatory funds group

Ability to conduct formal presentations

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
