Description

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) is in the process of relocating a substantial portion of its business to Durham, NC.  Join us in our new facility as the Internal Audit Director, and help us grow.

The Internal Audit Director, under the guidance of the CEO, directs all internal audit activities for AICPA. The internal audit department provides objective and professional evaluations of AICPA operations and assists management to accomplish their assigned responsibilities. The Director of Internal Audit works closely with all departments and all levels within the company and with outside auditors to identify areas of risk and of improvement.

ResponsibilitiesResponsible for all internal auditing activities; Prepares and administers the department budget; Selection, training, and supervision of the audit staff; Determines departments or operations to be audited and the timing and frequency of audits; Coordinates audit activities with external auditors; Recommends changes in policies or procedures to increase efficiency of operations or to improve safeguards over company assets; Conducts special studies as requested by the CEO; Reports to the CEO on matters that are not satisfactorily resolved.

RequirementsBachelor's degree in accounting or related field required; Masters degree preferred; CPA with significant expertise and seasoning in internal and external auditing; CIA and/or CISA preferred; 5-7 years experience in auditing; 5+ years experience effectively managing people; Ability to influence policy or strategy decisions made by senior management and define and drive organizational objectives; Ability to create, establish, and implement organizational vision and structure; Have understanding of business and accounting practices; Fast learner with high ethical standards; Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management and employees; Ability to work in fast-paced environment; Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques; Employee development and performance management skills; Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments; Ability to analyze and solve problems.
