Pepco Holdings Inc is looking for an Internal Controls Coordinator for their Wilmington, De and/or Washington DC office.

 

Coordinate PHI Controller?s Department Sarbanes ? Oxley Section 404 (SOX) Management Assessment of Internal Controls compliance requirements for over 300 key controls.  Specific functions include designing, documenting, maintaining, monitoring, testing, and updating internal controls and procedures in the Controller?s Department. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

1. Document the process definitions in the new Certis reporting system;
2. Perform monitoring, testing, & process changes related to the SOX compliance efforts within the Controller?s Department;
3. Interface with various liaisons within the Controller?s Department and PHI Corporate Compliance Unit to assist with SOX related developments and compliance efforts;
4. Ensure compliance efforts are carried out in a consistent and timely manner;
5. Interface with Accounting Policy group in linking changes required to improve the control environment in the Controller?s Department.


Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field OR the equivalent combination of education, training and or experience.
? Experience demonstrating skill using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure key control compliance and perform reconciliations.
? Experience demonstrating skill ensuring compliance efforts are carried out in a consistent and timely manner.
? Experience demonstrating skill communicating technical information, orally and in writing, with independent accountants, senior management, and/or internal customers.
? Experience demonstrating skill testing and documenting SOX, Internal Audit, and/or Public Accounting internal control procedures.
? Experience demonstrating skill reviewing and assessing internal controls for relevance and accuracy.
? Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software.
? Ability and willingness to work extended hours on a periodic basis (year-end, quarterly, monthly) as required.
? Ability and willingness to work independently and accurately.
? Ability and willingness to travel to various company locations as required.
? Ability and willingness to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
? Ability and willingness to adapt to constantly changing work demands.
? Must possess a valid driver's license.
? Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check.
Preferred:
? Certified Public Accountant and/or Master?s degree.
? Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements (for example, FERC, SEC, etc.).
? Extensive knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404.
? Experience demonstrating skill designing, monitoring, testing, and updating internal controls and procedures.
? Experience demonstrating skill using SAP software.
? Experience demonstrating skill using Certis software to document and monitor key controls.
? Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based database and presentation software.
? Experience demonstrating skill keeping up to date with changes in compliance requirements.
