Inventory Control Clerk

The Human Resource Consulting Group of a major California Insurance Company is currently recruiting on behalf of a client for  the position of Inventory Control Clerk.

 

Job Summary: Maintains prescribed inventory levels by performing ordering, receiving, classifying, storing, issuing, reconciling and shipping of materials, supplies, and equipment.  Maintains information, documents, records/logs verifying accuracy and completeness of information. Sets up new files and records. Compiles regular and special reports using established formats and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

?Compiles data from sources such as contracts, purchase orders, invoices, requisitions, and accounting reports and writes, types, or enters information into computer to maintain inventory, purchasing, shipping, or other records.

? Keeps back order file in established sequence and releases back orders for issue or shipment as stock becomes available.

? Compiles stock control records and information such as consumption rate, characteristics of items in storage, and current market conditions, to determine stock supply and need for replenishment.

? Prepares requisitions, orders, or other documents for purchasing or requisitioning new or additional stock items.

? Compares nomenclature, stock numbers, authorized substitutes, and other listed information with catalogs, manuals, parts lists, and similar references to verify accuracy of requisitions and shipping orders.

?  Assists with month end inventory reconciliation.

?  Reviews files to determine unused items and recommends disposal of excess stock.



Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Language Skills: Ability to understand verbal instructions and written documents in English such as safety rules, labels, MSDS, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Must have good grammar and writing skills.

 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

 

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word software for Word Processing and Microsoft Outlook.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  Valid, unrestricted California Driver?s License required with clean Motor Vehicle Report.  Must have certificate of insurance and be insurable if driving personal vehicle for company business. 

 

Other Qualifications :  Must be proficient in the use of a 10 key numeric data entry. 

 

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and (3) year(s) related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and vibration.
